Dental Technology Courses

The objective of this course is familiarizing students and educate them on the human mouth morphology, utilization of the dental impression to prepare working models to ultimately fabricate the dental prosthesis, procedures for carving the crowns, bridges, and roots in a suitable material such as wax compound, investing, casting and finishing the metal restorations. Also to educate the student in a definite procedure for building, contouring and shaping porcelain crowns that are fused to metal substructure.

To complete this course successfully, a student is required to complete a total of 782 hours consisting of 108 hours of classroom instruction and 674 hours of laboratory time.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be certified as a Dental Technician, with the knowledge required to attain a job at a laboratory specializing in the fixed prosthesis, e.g. crown & bridge.

After graduating from DTI, you will not be required to have any further licensing or certification to be employed in the dental field. However, you may wish to obtain a license from the National Board of Certification (NBC) –an independent board founded by the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) to certify dental laboratories and their technicians. Since certification is voluntary, it represents not only compliance with established standards, but also a special personal commitment to quality and professionalism.
